Crossroads of the West Gun Shows
Breaking News!
Make no mistake, there is not a Crossroads of the West gun show this weekend at the Orange County Fairgrounds.
UPDATE: The November 30 – December 1 Orange County show has been postponed pending a Supreme Court decision.
Good News for Gun Owners
26 State’s Attorneys General are suing the federal government over Biden’s new “rule” restricting law-abiding American’s ability to buy and sell firearms without requesting permission from the government to do so.
Attorney General Ken Paxton of Texas is leading a coalition of Attorneys General from 26 states suing the Biden Administration over what Paxton has called “Biden’s unlawful ban on private firearms sales”. Paxton is leading a multi-state coalition of A.G.’s including Utah, Texas, Louisiana and Missouri suing the B.A.T.F. of the U.S. Department of Justice for “unlawfully attempting to abridge American’s Constitutional right to privately buy and sell firearms”.
Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes said “Nearly forty years ago, Congress condemned ATF for targeting innocent gun owners instead of focusing on felons, calling ATF’s actions
“reprehensible”. Congress even changed the law, enacting the Firearms Owners Protection Act in 1986 to limit ATF’s authority. “But ATF is at it again, this time trying to require a
citizen selling even a single firearm to obtain a license. Utah is proud to join the 26 states-in three separate lawsuits-protecting their citizens from this bureaucratic
overreach.”
So… How Will This Affect Gun Shows?
What does this all mean for gun shows and for law-abiding gun owners who occasionally sell or buy firearms? Attorney General Paxton has requested an injunction in Federal court in Texas to halt the enforcement of the rule, which is slated to go into effect May 20, 2024. If the petition is successful, and we think that it will be, the unconstitutional requirement for lawful gun owners to obtain government permission to sell or exchange a firearm will not go into effect. Those of us who attend and participate in gun shows will still be able to do so without asking the government for their permission to sell any of our personal firearms.

* 2nd Amendment Victory in California *
GREAT NEWS!
B & L Production, dba Crossroads of the West Gun Shows, just heard back from our attorneys regarding our lawsuit with the State of California and the Judge ruled in our favor! The Honorable John W Holcomb ruled that state agencies or employees may not enforce the Penal Codes that have previously prohibited the sale of firearms or ammunition on state property.
He also ruled that Crossroads of the West may request dates for gun shows at the Orange County Fair and Expo Center and our requests must be honored, so long as the dates we
request are available.
In accordance with the Judge’s ruling, we have requested dates at the Orange County Fair and Expo Center. There are no dates available through the end of 2023 but we have requested a full schedule for 2024. It is likely that the State of California will appeal Judge Holcomb’s decision to the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. Our attorneys expect that the case will be ruled on by the U.S. Circuit relatively quickly.
We are expecting to get contracts in place before that appeal takes place but we are dependent on the Board of Directors approving those contracts in a timely manner.
In summary, we have good news but we may still have another court battle on our hands. We will keep you posted on further progress.
Let’s take a minute to celebrate a victory for our Second Amendment rights!
* California Precursor Parts List *
There has been a lot of confusion about the Precursor Parts Bill that went into effect on July 1, 2022. This law (AB 879) only restricts the sale of
80% lowers and receivers and “Ghost guns”. All other precursor parts that were originally included in the earlier draft of the law (AB 2382) are still exempt from background
checks. AB 2382 did not pass, therefore, all other precursor parts may continue to be sold without a background check.
